Concert 2 - Lady Sings the Viol CD launch

Directed by Jennifer Eriksson

“Lady Sings the Viol”, the latest Marais Project CD, brings together five wonderful singers – and some of Australia’s finest instrumentalists – who individually and collectively present 700 years of very special songs for voice and viol accompaniment. Everything from medieval English love songs to Edith Piaf, John Paul Jones, Elena Kats Chernin, Chattanooga Choo Choo and Marais. This will be the CD launch of the year. What better place to appear than the wonderful Independent Theatre where we return after several years’ absence.

Concert 3 - The 450th Birthday Bash: Dowland in the 21st Century

Directed by Jennifer Eriksson, Tommie Andersson & Daniel Yeadon

Some 450 years after his birth in 1563 the world still cannot get enough of the great English lutenist and composer, John Dowland. The composer of melancholy and unrequited love, Dowland remains without equal. This singular event features viol consort, Seaven Teares, lutenist Tommie Andersson and composer/bass clarinettist Paul Cutlan. Paul, whose appearance with Seaven Teares in 2012 met with widespread acclaim, will “re-compose” a Dowland song or two for the occasion!

Date: 3.00pm Sunday 10th November

Venue: The Refectory, Level 3, Science Rd, Holme Building, University of Sydney.

  • Daniel Yeadon and Catherine Upex – treble viol
